Kodo Mobility Solutions Visits Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) to Showcase Innovative Mobility Devices

IMG 20250319 WA0066

At Kodo Mobility Solutions, we are committed to enhancing mobility and independence for individuals with disabilities. Recently, we had the privilege of visiting Universiti Malaya Medical Centre  (PPUM) to showcase our range of vehicle mobility solutions, designed to make transportation safer and more accessible for patients with limited mobility.

During our visit, we demonstrated how our Welcab or swivel seat, wheelchair lifts, and wheelchair ramps can significantly improve the quality of life for patients who require frequent medical visits. Many individuals with disabilities face challenges when traveling to hospitals or clinics, and our solutions aim to eliminate those barriers.

Key Mobility Solutions Demonstrated:

  1. Welcab – Specially modified vehicles with features like swivel seats or welcab to assist passengers with disabilities.
  2. Wheelchair Lifts – Hydraulic lifts that safely transport wheelchair users in and out of vehicles with his/her own wheelchair.
  3. Wheelchair Ramps – Portable or vehicle-mounted ramps that provide smooth and secure access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

We were delighted to engage with the staff at UM Medical Centre (Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya), explaining how these innovations can support their patients’ transportation needs. By adopting accessible mobility solutions, healthcare providers can significantly improve patient care and convenience.

At Kodo Mobility Solutions, we believe that everyone deserves the freedom to move with dignity and ease. If you or your organization is interested in learning more about our vehicle mobility devices, feel free to contact us for a consultation or demo.

Let’s work together to create a more accessible and inclusive future!

The Struggles of Accessibility: Bringing Our Loved Ones in Wheelchairs to Restaurants and Shops

Accessibility is not a privilege; it is a fundamental right

Taking our loved ones out for a meal or shopping should be a simple and enjoyable experience. However, for those of us caring for individuals who rely on wheelchairs, this seemingly ordinary activity can quickly turn into a frustrating and exhausting ordeal. One of the most significant challenges we face is the lack of accessibility in public spaces, particularly in restaurants, retail stores, and even healthcare-related establishments.

Many businesses in Malaysia, from restaurants to other retail outlets, operate in spaces with steps at their entrances. These steps, though minor for most, create an insurmountable barrier for individuals in wheelchairs. Worse still, a large number of these establishments fail to provide ramps or alternative access points, making it nearly impossible for wheelchair users to enter independently or even with assistance.

In cases where no ramps or alternative entrances exist, we are left struggling to lift the wheelchair over steps—a task that is not only physically demanding but also dangerous. The stress and frustration of these experiences can make what should be a joyful meal or shopping trip feel like a battle.

Accessibility is not a privilege; it is a fundamental right. It is time for businesses to recognize that providing wheelchair access is not just about complying with regulations but about fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can participate equally.

At Kodo, we are dedicated to enhancing mobility solutions for individuals who require extra assistance in their daily travels. Recently, we had the privilege of visiting the Department of Rehabilitation at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to introduce and demonstrate our range of mobility devices designed for vehicles.

During our visit, we showcased various innovative products, including Welcab solutions, wheelchair lifts, and ramps. These devices are tailored to provide ease and accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges, ensuring that they can travel safely and comfortably to their rehabilitation sessions or medical treatments. Our team engaged with the department’s professionals, sharing insights on how our products function and how they can significantly improve patient mobility. We provided hands-on demonstrations, allowing the rehabilitation staff to experience firsthand how our solutions work in real-world scenarios.

One of the key highlights of our session was discussing how these mobility devices such as welcab, wheelchair lift and wheelchair ramp for vehicle can seamlessly integrate into patients’ routines, reducing the stress of transportation and promoting greater independence. By offering practical solutions, we aim to support healthcare providers in their mission to deliver efficient and compassionate care. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with UPM’s Department of Rehabilitation and look forward to working together to enhance mobility accessibility for those in need.

Ice Bucket Challenge by MND Malaysia

icebucket challenge

On June 29, 2024, at Padang Besar Petaling, MND Malaysia held an inspiring Ice Bucket Challenge event. Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is a devastating terminal illness that progressively robs patients of their ability to move, while their cognitive functions remain intact. Patients face the heartbreaking loss of basic abilities such as speaking, swallowing, and breathing, with eye movements often being the only means of communication in the later stages. KODO is honored to participate in this meaningful event, showing our unwavering support for those battling MND and raising awareness about this challenging condition.
